De Plaatsvervanger is a one-act play in Dutch by Arnold (Nicolaas Arnoldus Wijnstok, 1830-1878)[1].

Written for the Rederijkers, it was published by P.M. van de Made, Amsterdam, in 1863.

Performance history in South Africa
1869: First performed in the Germania Hall, Cape Town, by Aurora II on 3 June, with Het Laatste Levensuur van een Oranjeklant (Arnold).
