The orginal text
La bisarrerie de la fortune, ou le jeune philosophe was first performed in the Theatre du Marais on 16 April 1793. Published by Gobelet, 1798, then in a new edition in 1799.

Translated into Dutch with this title from the second, improved, French edition, by an unknown translator and published in Amsterdam by J. Doll in 1803.
