He trained at the Central School, London.
Career
He went to Stratford-on-Avon after compelting his studies, where he worked under Directors Peter Brook and Michael Benthall. After a spell of repertory, he made his first West End appearance in Medea with Eileen Hurley, directed by John Gielgud.
He starred as Higgins in ACT’s production of My Fair Lady, together with Diane Todd, at the Empire in 1962. It played to 234 packed houses before repeating its success in Cape Town and Durban.
He played a season with NAPAC followed by fourteen weeks at the Brooke Theatre of A Man and his Wife.
