David Barnett

(1874-1964) Photographer who, with his brother Joseph Barnett, worked for the weekly magazine Black and White, and took thousands of pictures of early Johannesburg. Later associated with I.W. Schlesinger in starting film production in South Africa. A collection of their materials are listed in the The Barnett Collection: South Africa and Johannesburg at the beginning of the twentieth century***
