He has a Performers Diploma in Speech and Drama fro UCT.

Notable roles as a student were Iago in Othello (1999) and Baylor in A Lie of the Mind. Things You Shouldn't Say Past Midnight (2000) was his second professional production after his role as Benvolio in Romeo and Juliet directed by Clare Stopford (2000).

He was nominated for the Fleur du Cap Most Promising Student in 1999-2000.
