He was a founding member of the Benoni Volksteater. He took an active part in English and Afrikaans productions in Johannesburg.

The Man in Half Moon Street and Eindeksamen under the Russian producer Ossip Runitsch were marked successes for him.

He appeared in a number of plays for the National Theatre Organisation, including An Inspector Calls (as stage manager and alternating the part of Gerald, 1948); Die Indringer (1949); Hassan (1950); Die Vrek (1951); As Ons Twee Eers Getroud Is (1952) and as producer, set-and-costume designer for the 1958 production of Die Indringer.

He played the role of Dr Farclet in the Afrikaans adaptation of Duet for Two Hands and for PACT he appeared in Putsonderwater as "Jan Alleman" (1981) and as "De Clerq" in Vereeniging, Vereniging (1984).
