Daar is Mijnheer!

Daar is Mijnheer! ("there is sir!") is a Dutch one act comedy, with music, written and composed by Marinus J. Gillissen (fl. 1870s).

The title is sometimes found as Daar is Mijnheer and the author also given as M.J. Gillissen in some cases.

First published in Kampen by Van Hulst, second edition by G. Theod. Bom in Ansterdam, 1879.

Translations and adaptations

It was possibly reworked in Cape Dutch (or early Afrikaans) as Daar is Meneer by an unknown local author.

Performance history in South Africa

1911: Performed as Daar is Meneer by Aurora III in the ANV Saal, Cape Town, on 31 August, as part of a festive meeting to celebrate the birthday of Queen Wilhelmina of the Netherlands.
