Cyrano de Bergerac [1] is an 1897 play by French poet and playwright Edmond Rostand (1868-1918) [2].

The original text

First performed in 1897 in the Théâtre de la Porte-Saint-Martin in Paris.

1952: Presented at the Reps Theatre in May, directed by Taubie Kushlick, starring Johann Nell in the title role, Lesley Brook, Olive Kavann, Simon Swindell, Robert del Kyrke, Sheila Lawrence, Gillian Whyte, Nicholas Brady, David Ritch, Sheelagh Ross, Ronald Arden.

1969: Produced in Afrikaans under the direction of Robert Mohr for CAPAB at the Alhambra Theatre, Cape Town, opening 3 September, starring Percy Sieff, Sandra Kotzé, Francois Stemmet, Pieter Joubert, Alec Bell, André Rossouw, Dawie Maritz, Fanie Bekker, Fitz Morley, James Norval, Dawid van der Walt, Ulrich Fobian, Rudie Nagelmaeker, Willem Vermaas, Willem de la Querra, Woutrine Theron, Nerina Ferreira, Anna Cloete, Marie Pentz, Marion Crage-Smith, Barnes Senekal and others.
