Costis Michaelides (19**-). Greek director.
Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance
He was the director of the Athens Drama Company which Leon Gluckman brought to South Africa to perform at the Civic Theatre in 1963. They did Euripides’s tragedy Iphigenia in Aulis, and Aristophanes’ Lysistrata, starring Aleka Katselis, Maria Moscholiou and Costas Kazakos. They also toured Rhodesia and Cape Town.
In 1965 he directed the TRUK production, Elektra, at the Civic Theatre, starring Anna Neethling-Pohl.
