Cock and Bull Story is a play by Richard Crowe and Richard Zajdlic.

Original text

Travis is an up-and-coming amateur boxer on the verge of the big time. Jacko is his coach, mentor and best friend. As they prepare for the big fight that will take them from nowhere to the somewhere of unlimited booze and women, it comes out that Travis experiences sexual arousal in the ring, a fact disturbing to homophobic Jacko.

Translated into Afrikaans by Quentin Krog and Geon Nel, entitled Boks.

Performance history in South Africa

1986: Produced by Marthinus Basson for CAPAB in the Arena Theatre, opening 14 August 1986. David Butler as Jacko, Jamie Bartlett as Rupert Travis.

2008: Boks was produced at the Baxter Theatre in August under the direction of Marthinus Basson, starring Neels van Jaarsveld and Quentin Krog.

2016: Performed at Theatre on the Bay, May 2016. directed by Marthinus Basson, starring Dean Smith (Rupert) and Edwin van der Walt (Jacko).
