Christopher Kindo (19**-). Renowned dancer and choreographer.


Biography

Born in Simons's Town, and grew up in Ocean View, Cape Town. Started dancing in the Simon's Town Cultural Group.


Training

He studied at the University of Cape Town School of Dance, and Boston Ballet Academy in the USA. .


Contribution to South African Theatre and Performance

Worked in the USA for a while. Was a member of the CAPAB Dance Company over years, and founder-member of Jazzart Dance Theatre.


Dancer

Choreography

He choreographed many stage plays and musicals, including Kramer and Petersen's Poison (1992), Antjie Somers, Love! Valour! Compassion!, Giants, Sinbad's African Adventures, Leader of the Pack (musical), The Tempest (2009).


Teaching

He taught and choreographed for Dance for All, the Eoan Group and CAFDA. Also founded the Tercia Kindo Arts Project in Ocean View on 16 June 2007. (It closed in 2010.)


Awards

FNB Vita Award (Best Male Dancer) 1991; Standard Bank Young Artist for Dance 1993;
