Christine Basson (1941-2019). Professional stage and screen actress, drama teacher and radio presenter in both English and Afrikaans.

Biography

She was Born on 9 June, 1941. Completed high school at Hoër Meisieskool Oranje in Bloemfontein and obtained a BA Drama at the Stellenbosch University circa 1964.


Died on 10 June 2019 at the age of 78.




She became a founding member of Pieter Fourie Genootskap (1964), touring the country with Pieter Fourie’s plays. Later worked for The Space and the Market Theatre in the 1970s. Then she worked for CAPAB??* in ****.

Besides being a professional stage actress, drama teacher and radio presenter for the past 30 years, she also had years of experience in theatre, radio, film, TV and voice work in both Afrikaans and English. Became nationally known in a number of TV series, most notably as “Nora Naude” in the long running soap Egoli.
