As a student he had a role in Miss Los Istrata (1972). Roles in UTS productions include Die Kaukasiese Krytsirkel (1973), The Fall and Redemption of Man (1973), Ses Personasies op soek na 'n Skrywer, as Die Vader (1974),Die Wintersprokie as Camillo, (1974), Die Keiser as Hendrik IV, (1983), August August, August (1987).
Chris acted in a number of CAPAB productions such as Drie Susters (as Claassens, 1976), Die Nag van Legio (1976), Othello (1977), Roulette as Police (1977), Die Paddas (1977), Hups in die Hydro (1990).
Directed two productions of Die Asjaspassie.
In 1994 he was one of the judges for the Amstel Playwright of the Year Award.
He is the creator of the Cape theatre company The Kasteel Players who presented street theatre in Cape Town and Bellville.
