by James Robinson Planché. (Also written Charles the Twelfth, Charles XII or Charles the XII.) A historical drama in two acts, which opened at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane, on the 11th December, 1828 and performed 1828 – 1829.

Performance history in South Africa

Performed by Garrison Players (in fact the the officers of the 98th regiment), on 28 July 1835 in the African Theatre, followed by The Review, or The Wags of Windsor (Colman Jr).

Performed by All the World's a Stage on Friday 22 August, 1845 in the Roland Street Theatre, followed by The Irish Tutor (Glengall).

Possibly to have been performed on 11 July 1854 by Garrison Players in 1854, to be followed by A Peculiar Position. Apparently this did not take place due to the illness of the stage manager, but was probably done some time later.
