Studied Music at the University of Stellenbosch, taking some courses with the Drama Department as well.

Lingenfelder has a long list of productions for which he has been musical director, including Almost the Sound of Music (for which he also wrote the libretto), ABBA(toir), Hair, Jesus Christ Superstar, Cabaret, and Hairspray.

He composed the music for The Secret Love Life of Ophelia, Cleopatra, Cinderella of the Cape Flats, and more than 50 South African plays, television programmes and films.

As an actor he has twice played the Emcee in Cabaret (Artscape, 200* and Fugard Theatre, 2015)
