(1920-1993) Born in Port Elizabeth, he went to London soon after World War II, where he began a career as producer of classical drama on radio, after which he joined the BBC to become an excellent television producer, notably of the BBC Shakespeare series. After retirement he went to the USA, were he continued to produce plays. **
