Cecil Fillis

(b. Brisbane, 07/11/1892 – d. Malvern, Victoria, 26/10/1962). The son of Frank Fillis and the brother of Adele Fillis, Cecil Edward Fillis was born in Australia while his parents were on tour in Australia. Like his sister, he performed in their circus and then saw service during World War I, first in the 4th Mounted Rifles during the German South West Africa campaign and later in the King Edward Light Horse regiment in France, where he was wounded. He acted in one silent feature, The Man Who Was Afraid (Joseph Albrecht/1920) and subsequently became a successful racehorse trainer, primarily in South Africa and Australia. (FO)
