British Born is a play, consisting of a prologue and three acts, by Paul Meritt (1843/4-1895) and Henry Pettitt (1848–1893)[1]

The original text

Styled "a new and original drama of national and domestic interest", it was first produced on 17 October, 1872, at the Grecian Theatre, London, and published as a French's Acting Edition by Samuel French Ltd in 1872.

1878: Performed by Disney Roebuck and his company in the Theatre Royal, Cape Town, on 6 April, with Withered Leaves (Broughton).

1878: Performed in the Theatre Royal, Cape Town, by Disney Roebuck and company on 1 April, as a benefit for Mr. Palmer

1878: Performed in the Theatre Royal, Cape Town, by Disney Roebuck and company on 4 April, with Andy Blake (Boucicault).

1878: Performed in the Theatre Royal, Cape Town, by Disney Roebuck and company on 6 April, with Withered Leaves (Broughton).

1878: Performed in the Theatre Royal, Cape Town, by Disney Roebuck and company on 17 and 18 June, and a performance by the local ballet troupe called "The Grotesques".
