Brief van die Harlekyn ("Letter from the harlequin or clown") is a one-man play by Thijs Nel, based on two articles by C.J. Langenhoven.

The original text

The two essays -"'n Fragment" and "Brief van die Harlekyn" - were published in Langenhoven's weekly column "Aan Stille Waters" ("By still waters") in Die Burger. In Nel's text the two articles are set in a circus milieu and linked by means of a poem "Lied van die Harlekyn" ("Song of the harlequin"), also by Langenhoven, set to music by Nel and Pauline Matthee.

2007: First performed at the KKNK in Oudtshoorn, where Langenhoven had lived most of his life. Directed by Louis van Niekerk, with Paul Eilers. The company and stage manager was Vicky Stemmet.
