Brief van die Harlekyn ("Letter from the harlequin or clown") is a one-man play by Thijs Nel, based on two articles by C.J. Langenhoven.

The original text

The two essays -"'n Fragment" and "Brief van die Harlekyn" - were published in Langenhoven's weekly column "Aan Stille Waters" ("By still waters") in Die Burger. In Nel's text the two articles are set in a circus milieu and linked by means of a poem "Lied van die Harlekyn" ("Song of the harlequin"), also by Langenhoven, set to music by Nel and Pauline Matthee.
