Breaker Morant is a play in two acts by Kenneth G. Ross(1941-)[1].

The original text
The play is based on the 1902 court martial of Harry "Breaker" Morant (1864–1902)[], Peter Handcock and George Witton, one of the first war crime prosecutions in British military history.

The play was first performed at the Athenaeum Theatre, in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, on Thursday, 2 February 1978, by the Melbourne Theatre Company.
Translations and adaptations
The play was adapted to an award-winning film[2] by Ross and Bruce Beresford, and filmed under the same title, with Beresford directing.
Performance history in South Africa
1987: Performed at the Natal Playhouse, from 11 August to September by the NAPAC company. Directed by John Hussey, with André Jacobs as "Breaker Morant", Gavin van den Berg as "George Witton" and Iain Winter as "Peter Handcock".
