Bie Engelen is the daughter of Fred Engelen and Tine Balder.
She studied at the University of Stellenbosch Drama Department until 1966. She went abroad in 1969 to study decor and costume design.
She appeared as Koningin Marie in Die Koning Sterf in 1969.
