Betty Mthombeni (19**-). Singer, actress.

Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance

She sang in the choir of a production of Sponono in Port Elizabeth in 1963.

Performed in Meropa (for Brickhill-Burke), Showboat (for CAPAB and SWAPAC, 1979).

She starred in the JODS production of George Gershwin and Ira Gershwin Theatre’s opera Porgy and Bess together with Ben Masinga. It was directed by Taubie Kushlick and staged at the Alhambra Theatre in November 1978. It re-opened, just to close again by the end of January 1979. She appeared as Queenie in the 1979 CAPAB production of Show Boat.
