Beth Dickerson (1928-2015). Actress, director, academic, poet and writer.


Biography

She died in Grahamstown on 22 April 2015 at the age of 87.

Youth

Training

She studied at Rhodes University in Grahamstown.

Career

In 1986 she was acting head of the Rhodes University Drama Department. She retired in 1992.

Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance

She directed many Rhodes University Drama Department productions, among others The Diary of Iris Vaughan, Riders to the Sea, The Playboy of the Western World, The Shadow of the Glen abd The Crucible.

Roles in The Emperor Jones, A Day in the Death of Joe Egg.
