Translations and adaptations
Translated into Dutch as Wreedheid en Grootmoedigheid ("Cruelty and Kindness") and published by Jan Dóll, (wed.) Amsterdam, 1798
The title sometimes expanded to either Het Veemgerigt, of Wreedheid en Grootmoedigheid ("The Judiciary, or Cruelty and Kindness”) or Het Veemgericht, of Misdaad en Grootmoedigheid ("The Judiciary, or Crime and Kindness”). The terms "veemgerigt" and "veemgericht" seem to be interchangeable.
Performance history in South Africa
1838: Performed in Dutch as Het Veemgerigt, of Wreedheid en Grootmoedigheid ("The Judiciary, or Cruelty and Kindness”), by some players from the amateur company Vlyt en Kunst on 3 October in Cape Town , with De Dwarsdryfster (Dufresny).
1877: Performed in Dutch as Het Veemgericht, of Misdaad en Grootmoedigheid in the Athenaeum Hall, Cape Town, by Aurora II on 28 August.
1877: Performed in Dutch as Het Veemgericht, of Misdaad en Grootmoedigheid in the Athenaeum Hall, Cape Town, by Aurora II on 25 September.
