by Gladys Thomas (1935-). A series of 21 vignettes of the life of the “coloured people” of the Cape Flats, set in a block of Council Flats named Avalon Court (after the old Avalon cinema in District Six) and takes place between about 1978 and 1980. There are 23 characters in the piece. The text won the 1990 Betrams V.O. Literary Award and was published by Skotaville Publishers in 1992.

Directed by Greg Philander for Caydo at the National Arts Festival Fringe, 1999.
