At the Edge and Other Cato Manor Stories is a book of short stories and stage adaptation of the same name by Ronnie Govender (1935-2021)

A collection of Govender's writings, stories that offers a series of narratives of life in Cato Manor from the 1940s until its destruction in 1958/9, and in the process raises larger questions about South African Indian identities—questions of alienation, exclusion, exoticism, and belonging. It contains the play At the Edge,

First published by Marx Publishers in 1996.

Performance history in South Africa

2010: Presented at Playhouse Theatre, Durban from 8 September to 12 September Playhouse Theatre as part of the Celebrating Durban Festival by Jailoshini Naidoo, directed by Sharupa Dutta.

2010: Presented by Arts Alive in association with The Market Theatre as part of the 2010 Joburg Arts Alive International Festival at The Market Theatre, Newtown, Johannesburg from 16 to 26 September.

2010: Playhouse Theatre (as part of Celebrating Durban), is the revival of celebrated playwright Govender's acclaimed classic play, which draws inspiration from his book At the Edge and other Cato Manor Stories. The book won the Commonwealth Writers' Award.

and then at The Market Theatre, Newtown, Johannesburg from 16 to 26 September. by Teamwork Productions in association with The High Commission of India, as part of the fourth edition of the Shared History Festival (The Indian Experience)
