DOWDS, Ashley (1966- ). A South African actor, mostly on radio and television, best known as a continuity presenter for SABC3, and for co-presenting the reality travel show Going Nowhere Slowly, also on SABC3.

Biography

Born and raised in Durban.

Training

Graduated from the University of Natal with a BA in English, Zulu and Drama, followed by an Honours degree in Drama.

Career

Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance

Theatre work include: The Three Musketeers; Peter Pan; Fiddler on the Roof; Old Boys (as Miles Carruthers); Japes; Blue/Orange, Dinner Talk (PACOFS 1997), Hard Love (2009), Pieter Toerien's The Mousetrap (2012), Soil (2013), Pale Natives (2014).

Television roles include: John in Generations; The Host (himself ) in Going Nowhere Slowly; Malcolm Bishop in Home Affairs; Andrew McBain in Scandal!; Deon Pienaar in Sokhulu & Partners.

Feature films: Scout's Safari (2002); Scandal (2005); Wild at Heart (2006).
