Ashes
Ashes is a play by English playwright of Northern Irish descent David Rudkin [1] (born 1939).
Productions include those at Stadsteater Hamburg (1973), Open Space Theatre [2] (1974), staged off-Broadway in 1977 and winner of an Obie award.

Performance history in South Africa
Dimitri Nicolas-Fanourakis directed and lit this production for The Space (Cape Town) in 1976. Brian Astbury describes it as one of the best productions that ran at this theatre, even though it was panned by three critics and closed by the censors five days after opening. The cast consisted of Yvonne Bryceland, Bill Curry, Val Fletcher and Bill Flynn. The designer was Bee Berman and the stage manager was Joe Gibbon.
