The original text
Based on an old Cape "bogeyman" legend about a man dressed in woman's clothing who, witch-like, catches and carries off young children if they are naughty. The legend developed from the actual story of the slave Andries Somers who dressed up as a woman to evade the authorities. His story begins on 30 November 1834, the day before the slaves are set free in the Cape Colony.

Premièred at the KKNK and Aardklop 2000, directed by Hannes Muller, with Zane Meas (as Andries/Antjie Somers), Marina Coetzee, André-Jacques van der Merwe, Adrian Poulsen, Mike Huff, Denver Vraagom, Mortimer Williams, Ilse Oppelt, Farouk Valley-Omar. Choreography by Christopher Kindo and design by Hansie Visagie. The same production was staged later in 2000 in the Sand du Plessis Theatre in Bloemfontein.
