Anne Butt is a former leading figure on Durban’s theatre scene, who died at the end of August 1999. She made a major impact on the local amateur dramatics scene in Durban during the 1960’s and 1970’s. A strong actress and director she appeared in and directed productions at the Old Lyric Theatre, the Alhambra Theatre (when it operated as a theatre) and the St John’s Theatre (headquarters of the St John’s Ambulance) in Old Fort Road, Durban.
