RICHTER-VISSER, Anna (1914-1997). Stage, radio and film actress, elocutionist, director, teacher. As stage actress started in Cape Town performing in Maeterlinck's Die Indringer (1935) for the University of Cape Town, and for the Kaapstadse Afrikaanse Toneelvereniging in Die Heks (Leipoldt, 1936), **** In 1939 she and Aletta Gericke founded Die Kunsskool ("The Art School") in Stellenbosch, to provide training for performers in Afrikaans. The name changed to the Akademie vir Dramakuns (ADK, "The Academy for Dramatic Art") in 1940, when Suzanne van Wyk replaced Richter-Visser, who had moved to Bloemfontein to continue the classes there and become a leading figure in the local Afrikaans amateur theatre society Teatergroep ("Theatre Group") ***.
