An Alarming Sacrifice is a farce in one act by John Baldwin Buckstone (1802-1879)[1].

First performed in London at the Theatre Royal Haymarket on July 12, 1849, and published by the National Acting Drama Office in that year.

1860: Produced by Sefton Parry on 1 March in the The Cape Town Theatre in Harrington Street with Jane Lomax, or A Mother's Crime (Stirling) and La Yolta Arragonaise (a dance by Lizzie Powell) as an interlude.

1860: Produced by Sefton Parry on 22 March in the The Cape Town Theatre in Harrington Street with The Dream at Sea, or The Cornish Wheelers (Buckstone).

1861: Produced by Sefton Parry on 21 October in the The Cape Town Theatre in Harrington Street with Aladdin, or The Wonderful Lamp.

1862: Produced by Sefton Parry in Cape Town 18 March in the The Cape Town Theatre in Harrington Street with the "grand Comic pantomime " of Jack the Giant-Killer, or Harlequin King Arthur and Queen of the Fairy Bees (Byron?).
