Biography

Youth

Training

BA in Theatre and Performance at the University of Cape Town.

MA in Theatre-making at the University of Cape Town.

Career

Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance

She wrote the plays Other People's Lives and Kristalvlakte.

She wrote Pornography and directed a production of the play at the Intimate Theatre, Cape Town, in October 2010.

Amy organised the Women Playwrights International Conference in Cape Town in 2015.

She wrote the script for the films Ellen: The Ellen Pakkies Story (2018); Bakarat (released 2021). She also directed the latter.

Co-compiler and -editor (with Yvette Hutchison) of the collection Contemporary Plays by African Women (Methuen Drama, 2019)

Awards, etc

She was awarded the Emerging Theatre Director's Bursary in 2010.

Standard Bank Young Artist Awards winner (Theatre), 2019.
