ISMAEL-ESSOP, Amrain. (1976*?- ). Stage, film and TV actress and dramatist. Born in Cape Town, studied at University of Cape Town Drama Department (1996-1998). Wrote and performed Kerrie Karma (1999) as part of the Baxter Lab’s Young Writer’s Programme. Other stage credits: Locked (Adam Pike, 2001) and Sorrows and Rejoicings (Athol Fugard, 2001), For Coloured Girls Who Have Considered Suicide/When the Rainbow is Enuf (2002, Fleur du Cap Award for Best Performance in a Musical or Revue, shared with the cast), Film and TV credits include Generations (SABC, 2001) and Scooter Riders (***, 2001).
