Alta Miller (1944-) is a costume designer and potter.


Biography

Born Sophia Albertina Miller, the daughter of James Edmund Miller and Anna Johanna (Dolly) Miller. However is professionally known as "Alta".

Met novelist, playwright and academic André P. Brink when his play Kinkels in die Kabel (an Afrikaans adaptation of A Comedy of Errors) was performed in Bloemfontein by PACT. They married on July 17, 1970 and moved to Grahamstown, where he was teaching. They were divorced in 1987. The couple have two children, Danie Brink and Sonja Kershaw (Brink).

Career in theatre

Resident Costume Designer and Head of Costumes for PACOFS in the late 1960s and early 1970s. She later took up a career as potter.
