Adriaan Francken (1860-1949) is an Afrikaans academic and playwright. Also known as A. Francken.

Born in Wydewormer, the Netherlands, he arrived in Bloemfontein on 21 April 1891 to become a professor in Dutch and French and later librarian at Grey University College.

He was a founding member of the Onze Taal movement,
