Having taught in the English departments at the Universities of Stellenbosch and Western Cape, and the Drama department at Stellenbosch University (where he also co-authored a study of arts activities in Stellenbosch), he became an Associate Professor in the Centre for Film and Media Studies (University of Cape Town).
