The author received the Amstel Playwright of the Year Award, 1987. Winner of the Fleur du Cap Award for Best New Indigenous Script (1988). AA Life Vita Best script Award (Cape) (1989). It was awarded the Olive Schreiner Prize for Drama in 1990.
