A Sleep of Prisoners

A Sleep of Prisoners is a 1951 play by English poet and playwright Christopher Fry (1907-2005) [1].

First performed at St Thomas' church in Regent Street, London, in 1951 and later touring with Denholm Elliott and Stanley Baker.

Performance history in South Africa

1965: Staged by PACT, directed by Ron Jameson, with himself (Private David King), Ronald Wallace (Private Peter Abel), Arthur Hall (Corporal Joe Adams) and [Siegfried Mynhardt]] (Private Tim Meadows).

1997: ACTS (The African Community Theatre Service) presented a version directed by Peter Krummeck, with [Peter Krummeck]] (Private David King), Ulric Charteris (Private Peter Abel), Matthew Roberts (Corporal Joe Adams) and Richard Farmer (Private Tim Meadows). The production was first staged at St. Paul's Church, Rondebosch on 25 June and subsequently at the Cathedral of St. Michael and St. George, Grahamstown from 8 to 12 July at the Grahamstown Festival.
