Performance history in South Africa

1969: 1972: Opening in 1969, it went on to tour for almost thrirty years, becoming the longest running one-man show in South Africa, still performed on occasion in the 1990s and into the new millenium. It was followed by other selections (e.g. Another Sip of Jerepigo, Just Jerepigo, etc.) The play also did much for the rediscovery of Bosman as an original South African talent.

The Johannesburg Civic Chamber Theatre production was presented by Michael Brooke at the H.B. Thom Theatre from 31 January to 2 February 1972, directed by Michal Grobbelaar. Patrick Mynhardt featured as Oom Schalk Lourens, the best story-teller in the Marico. Stage manager Jannie Swanepoel.
