A Shot in the Dark is a 1961 comic play by American playwright Harry Kunitz (1908-1968) [1],

The original text

It is adapted from and based on L'Idiote [2] a comic mystery play by French playwright Marcel Achard (1899-1974) [3].

Translations and adaptations

It was made into a 1964 comedy film, also called A Shot in the Dark [4]. It was the second installment in The Pink Panther film series directed by Blake Edwards and featuring Peter Sellers as Inspector Jacques Clouseau of the French Sûreté.
