It was made into a 1964 comedy film, also called A Shot in the Dark , which was the second installment in The Pink Panther film series directed by Blake Edwards and featuring Peter Sellers as Inspector Jacques Clouseau of the French Sûreté.

1962: Staged by Leonard Schach Productions, first in the Hofmeyr Theatre in Cape Town and later in the Playhouse Theatre in Johannesburg, directed by Leonard Schach, with Siegfried Mynhardt (Morestan), Kerry Jordan (Sevigne), Michael McGovern (Lablanche), Patricia Sanders (Antoinette), Patricia Denys (Josefa), Valerie Philip (Madame Beauveres), Yossi Graber (Beauveres) and Robert Hahn (Guard).
