Under the pseudonym AV he wrote the sketch 'n Saak het twé kante while a student at the Hugenote Gedenkschool in Paarl. (c.a. late 1890s). It was performed as My nooi se naam is Sarie Takhaar ("My girlfriend's name is Sarie Backvelder") by the C.J.V Warmwater in 1907 in Paarl. *
