Une Heure de Prison, ou La Lettre de Recommandation ("An hour in prison, or the letter of recommendation") is a comedy in two acts ("comédie en 2 actes, mêlée de couplets") by Sewrin (Charles-Augustin de Bassompierre), Théophile Marion Dumersan et Jean Toussaint Merle.

The original text
According to some sources this play was first created and performed at the Thêàtre des Variétés, Paris, on 24 July 1811. The published in a first edition by Barba (1811) as a “comédie en 2 actes, mêlée de couplets”.
Translations and adaptations
Adapted into Dutch as Een Uur Achter Slot, of De Brief van Aanbeveling, a two-act comedy (" blyspel met zang in twee bedrijven") by J. C. Honig. The Dutch version published in Amsterdam by A. Mars, 1813.
Performances in South Africa
1849: Performed in Dutch in Cape Town by Tot Nut en Vermaak en Door Yver Vruchtbaar on 27 July, with De Lauwerkrans, of Het Gezag der Wetten (Ziegler).
