Laying the Foundation is a one-act play by May Thomas (fl 1940s-1960s).
The play demonstrates the devisiveness of the early days of the Cape Colony, which was governed by Simon van der Stel who had to avert a threatened rebellion by Huguenot settlers.
The text was published by FATSSA, 1951.
