L'Avocat Pathelin is a play by David-Augustin de Brueys (1641–1723)[1],

The play was based on La Farce de Maître Pierre Pathelin[2] ("The Farce of Master Pierre Pathelin"), the very popular medieval farce, written by an anonymous author in 1457.

It is best known in South Africa through the popular English adaptation as a farce in two acts called The Village Lawyer.
