Joh. Gys. Blanckenberg (17**-18** - also listed as J.G. Blanckenberg) was one of the original 24 shareholders, to whom a section of the Boereplein was donated for the building of a theatre, which became The African Theatre. Appointed by Sir George Yonge when granting the land for the proposed theatre.
