First performed at Covent Garden in October 1801, with an Epilogue by Mr. Serjeant Sellon.
First printed in London by A. Strahan for T.N. Longman and O. Rees, 1802.

Performance history in South Africa
1815: Announced for performance in the African Theatre, Cape Town by the Garrison Players on 7 October, with as afterpiece No Song, No Supper (Hoare), but postponed to 14 October.
1817: Announced for performance in the African Theatre, Cape Town by the Garrison Players on 16 August, with as afterpiece The Adopted Child (Birch), but this never took place.
1823: Performed in the African Theatre, Cape Town by the Garrison Players on 27 September, with The Day After The Wedding (Kemble) as afterpiece.
