Crystal Clear, by British playwright Phil Young. Set in an attic flat in London in the early 80's. Richard, suffering from extreme diabetes and the breakdown of his relationship with Jane, meets Thomasina, blind from birth. They fall in love. First produced Old Red Lion Theatre, London, 1983. Original text

Ever since her husabnd's boating accident, Jane Shore has ruled her shop with a rod of iron and kept her son, Craig, in complete subjection. Craig is in love with the shop assistant Penny, but is too afraid to tell his mother. Penny and Craig decide take matters in to their own hands and persuade one of the customers to propose to her. Much to his shock she accepts. Soon after the 'ghost' of Jane's husband appears and he turns out to be alive! Through this series of events, involving a Crystal-gazer, Craig and Penny declare their love for each other, whilst Mr and Mrs Shore decide to remain separated.

Adapted and translated into Afrikaans by Mariechen Naude under the title Onkruid Vergaan Nie ("Weeds don't go away").

Performance history in South Africa

2024: Onkruid Vergaan Nie presented by ATKV-tak PEAAT at Laerskool Newton Park, directed by Frans van der Merwe, with Cobus Lombard, Elsabe Pretorius, Alicia Botha, Daneel Strydom, Arno Engelbrecht and Johan Beyers.
